Michigan Child Welfare Measurement System

A graphic that will serve as an aid for understanding measurement strategies and how measurements relate to each other in the Michigan Child Welfare System is developed through this project. This measurement system targets the audience with no knowledge or experience of the system, thus needs to be as simple and intuitive as possible. Audience will not only obtain understanding of mechanisms of MCWS, but also obtain what the terms, placement spell, placement events and reunification mean. Each diagram represents life of a candidate - who’s age ranges from 0 to 18 years. The diagram consists of circles of different radii, each representing different placement events. Different placement events have different radii, in order to show the qualitative difference between them. They are arranged in such order, that farther away from the center of the circle indicates being in a status that is cognized away from being socially stable.
